Oracle forms

Hi all,

Firstly apologies if this post is in the wrong section.

I am trying to determine if this product would be suitable for testing an Oracle Forms application?

Has anyone used this product in anger to do so? Is it an officially supported technology?

Kind regards,

Paul

Hi Martin,

Thanks for your answer. We haven't built the application yet so hence my question.

If your reply is give it a go and see if it works then I think I can assume that you do not support Oracle Forms applications officially (even if it does happen to work).

Unfortunately that would mean that should we purchase and hit a problem not discovered during the evaluation period then we'd be on our own.

Thanks again for your response, at least I understand your position now.

Kind regards,

Paul

Hi Paul,

We didn't get any sample applications with Oracle forms - therefore we can't give you information on that.
BUT
Due to the fact that Oracle forms are based on some technology (maybe Java...), it could be that our plugins can deal Oracle forms.

Therefore, please create a simple dummy application with some buttons, grid (with dummy data) and inputfields and try to track elements with Ranorex Spy.

Please provide feedback about this.

Thanks
Martin

Hi again Martin,

Thanks for the reply. I've never been involved with an oracle forms application before but some developers will be coming on board in the next month or so who will be qualified to evaluate.
I believe we will web deploy the oracle forms application, technically I know it uses a java applet but I am not sure if that renders windows style controls or simply emits HTML to the containing page.
When the technical people become available we will be in a position to evaluate. I was just trying to gather a list of products that definitely would or would not be suitable in the meantime.

Thanks again

Kind regards,

Paul

Hi Paul,

we support HTML (Browsers Google Chrome, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox,Internet Explorer), Java Applets and Native Windows.

Therefore, I think that we will support your Oracle forms too. But I can't guarantee it at this time. If your developers will arrive next month you can evaluate with the trial version.
If the 30 days trial are over, contact us, we can give you a licence for one more month in that case.

We are looking forward to hearing from you when your developers are on board.

Regards,
Martin
