Hello,
I am using Ranorex 4.1.0.
When I add a new folder in the Project view, an exception is thrown: "Object reference not set to an instance of a object". The same exception is thrown when renaming an existing folder in the Project view.
STEPS TO RECREATE THE ISSUE:
1. In the Project view pane, left-click on the project or on existing folder.
2. On the context menu, select Add > New Folder.
3. Enter a name for the folder.
RESULT:
"Object reference not set to an instance of a object" is displayed.
The exception dialog can be closed, and the folder is there in the Project view.

Re: 4.1.0- Exception thrown if a folder is added in Project view
Sorry, but I could not reproduce that problem.
Does that exception occur every time you execute the steps you described?
Is the project version controlled (SVN/TFS)?
Can you post the complete exception message, please? Or if this is the complete message, post a screenshot of the dialog?

Alex

Re: 4.1.0- Exception thrown if a folder is added in Project view
Yes, the project is in TFS.
I just tried creating a new Solution/Project in 4.1.0, and I do not get the exception. But I do get the exception in projects created in previous versions of Ranorex.
I also tried the steps for a project not bound to Source Control, and I do not get the exception.
But in my project bound to Source Control, I do get the exception every time I follow the steps.
I attached a screenshot of the exception dialog.
Thanks!

Re: 4.1.0- Exception thrown if a folder is added in Project view
So, you get the exception with the steps specified above only if you create the project with a 4.0.X version of Ranorex Studio?solovengo wrote:But I do get the exception in projects created in previous versions of Ranorex.
Our developers had a look at the code and found a possible cause for that problem. However, in order to verify that they fixed the problem, could you provide us a sample solution you can reproduce the problem with?

I will create an email and attach the Solution that manifest the issue. I will send it to the Ranorex Support email address and reference this Forum post.
Thanks for checking into this.
