[5.4.1] FireFox Plugin Not Working in Private Mode

Post by Gh15ty » Fri Sep 04, 2015 5:45 pm

FireFox Version: 40.0
Ranorex Version: 5.4.1.25490

Opening Firefox in normal mode allows for elements to be identified with the spy, but as soon as the browser is opened in Private mode, trying to identify any elements shows the "Ranorex Limitation" popup and prompts you to run the wizard again.

Works just fine for me on Private with Google.com, finds all elements.

Firefox 40
Ranorex 5.4.1

Did you enable the "Ranorex Automation NG" extension in FF 40? The old "Ranorex Automation" extension no longer works with FF 40 and should be disabled automatically.
Shortcuts usually aren't...

The new plugin is enabled and works fine in normal mode. Only get the problem when we open it in private mode.

The only other difference that might be worth mentioning is that our test machines have a group policy set by IT to control deployment of browsers, so we are running Nightly version 40 from the preview branch, not version 40.0.2 or 40.0.3.

Hello Gh15ty,

Thank you for reporting this issue.

The issue was reproducible using Firefox 40.0.3.
We are currently working on a solution.

In the meantime I would suggest using the following workaround:
1) Open Firefox in normal mode
2) Add some recording actions, which open a new private window
3) Close the initial Firefox window

At this time the plugin has already been loaded and you should be able to work in private mode.

Thank you for your understanding.

Regards,
Johannes

Hello,

The bug has been fixed in the latest version of the Firefox-plugin.

Depending on your Firefox-settings, Add-ons are updated automatically.
Otherwise you should be able to perform the update manually.
