Anti virus blocks Ranorex installer

Post by HansSchl » Thu Mar 05, 2020 3:46 pm

Hi,

I downloaded Ranorex-9.3.0.exe from your website and launched the installer. After a while, a message popped up saying that "Ranorex.Libs.leAddon3.ni.dll" was put into quarantine because it is infected with "Win64:Evo-gen [Susp]". Google revealed that this alarm is raised by the heuristic part of the AVG/AVAST anti virus software. Ranorex sure does some things which "normal" programs don't do, and thus triggers the alarm.

You can apply to have the dll whitelisted at AVG/AVAST. This would enable users to install the update. (You may have to renew the whitelisting with every version.) Until then, I cannot use the current version of Ranorex because company policies require me to take anti virus messages serious, especially with files downloaded from the internet.

Hi HansSchl,

Thank you for this information. I have forwarded this to our developers to investigate and apply to have this whitelisted automatically. In the meantime, you will need to request this to be whitelisted manually by your company.

Cheers,
Ned
