Apple Developer Account for iOS testing

In order to do automated iOS testing, do we need to have an apple developer account or program subscription? I think the problem I am running into is not being able to install or setup a provisioning profile and certificates. When I try to deploy the ranorex package to my device, it gives me the following error.

The identity 'iPhone Developer' doesn't match any valid, non-expired certificate/private key pair in your keychains.

Please help.

Hello,

It seems that you don't have a valid provisioning profile and certificates.
You would need to have an Apple developer account and a valid certificate in order to deploy iOS apps on a physical device. This is unfortunately a restriction from Apple and can’t be skipped.

Therefore, such a profile is needed to deploy our RXBrowser app to a physical device.
You would need to enroll in an Apple Developer Program and create a certificate.

I'm running into this problem as well. It's an issue because we are just evaluating the product and don't have a developer account. In any case, if you could provide documentation on how to resolve this it would expedite the process.

unless you have an Apple Developer Account, you cannot install RxBrowser or any 'custom' app into your iDevice. That's a must from Apple and you can't do anything against that.

BTW, there is an 'alternative' method... but I'm not sure I can explain it here.
