Bug: IE zoom makes tests failed

Post by rotciv » Tue Sep 16, 2014 3:40 pm

hello
I am using Ranorex version 5.01.17706
OS Windows Server 2008 R" Standard (the same scenario works fine on W7)

is it a known bug that changing the zoom of the Explorer makes actions like click to be misplaced?
in particular I have very simple scenario - certificate issue, trying to continue to the website
in repository the hierarchy is
explorerZoomIssue.JPG
explorerZoomIssue.JPG (47.92 KiB) Viewed 1148 times

if I change the zoom of the internet explorer from 100% to 75% clicking on Continue is misplaced (ie even highlighting from the Spy show it somewhere below
see ss
explorerZoomIssue2.JPG

I must say it works fine if the hierarchy starts from

Code: Select all

/dom[@domain='ieframe.dll']
.//a[@innertext='Continue to this website (not recommended).']
but we want to make sure that certificate error title is used in the path

thanks for looking at this issue

Regards,
rotciv

First, if you believe it is a bug, it should have been placed in the "Bug Reports" section of the forums, not "Automation API". Also, you should do a search for the issue before posting to make sure it isn't already raised. This issue was part of another thread here, which is where I get my information below.

Second, if you need a faster response, you might want to send an email to [email protected]. They are typically faster about responses there. They try to allow users to answer threads in the forum before they chime in, so email is better if you want a direct response.

As for your zoom issue, Ranorex uses offsets based on 100% scale on the browser, so you should leave the zoom at 100%. Each browser handles zoom differently when rendering, so Ranorex cannot handle all situations and possibilities. You either need to leave your zoom at 100%, or you will need to code your own methods for clicking in the right place.
