Cannot open Solution file

Hello together,

currently I cannot open the solution file, which I am developing..

When I try to open it (no matter whether via File Explorer or via Studio) I get an error message (attachment: Ranorex_Open_Solution_Bug.PNG).

It's pretty weird because I am already trying to opening the .rxsln file...
Other files from the directory like the Test suite or the Visual Studio solution file, I can still open, only the Solution makes problems.


Any ideas why I am getting the bug and how to fix it?

Hi,

I would suggest to compare the problematic rxsln file with an existing or new one. It looks like the rxsln is somehow corrupted? Unfortunately, it's impossible to tell what's wrong without seeing the file (entire solution). Also, are you using most recent Ranorex version (9.3.2)?

thanks for your fast response!

I tried many things out, also comparing the files, like you suggested but unfortunately I couldn't find the problem.

Thankfully I am using TSVN, so I could just check out the latest working version, and I am back at the business

So please everybody who reads that, make sure to ALWAYS use a version control system, otherwise you could experience a nasty surprise.

This is very true. Nobody should ever consider to start with TA, without proper source control system in place

BTW, have you tried to compare problematic rxsln, with the one from TSVN?

to be honest, that one I didn't tried - I made try it next time, I should experience the same problem (hopefully not)...

But I am still wondering how a laptop/PC crash might have changed settings in the Ranorex Solution file..
