Change Source Control

Post by airwolf12 » Tue Oct 29, 2019 11:08 pm

I currently have my Ranorex artifacts under SVN source control and would like to move to Git and BitBucket. Are there best practices for doing this? I use Tortoise SVN for other things so I don't really want to uninstall that if possible. Is there a tool that makes it easier to change source control? I will say, I probably don't need to maintain the history either if that makes it easier.

Hi,

I think this is not exactly Ranorex-related matter, so I would suggest to check the available SVN-to-GIT posts. Check for example these:
https://john.albin.net/git/convert-subversion-to-git
https://www.atlassian.com/git/tutorials ... g-overview
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/ ... ure-devops
Pavel Kudrys
Ranorex explorer at Descartes Systems

Please add these details to your questions:
  • Ranorex Snapshot. Learn how to create one >here<
  • Ranorex xPath of problematic element(s)
  • Ranorex version
  • OS version
  • HW configuration

Additional question related to this topic:
we have migrated the Ranorex artifacts from svn to GIT, that is currently the Ranorex stuff is available in 2 version control systems: SVN and GIT. What do I have to do, to let Ranorex know, that from now on GIT should be used instead of SVN? In the past the Ranorex projects have been put under a SVN version control system - now I would like to change it to the already existing GIT repository.
