Create image in repository from code

Post by choosyg » Fri Jun 03, 2016 1:26 pm

Hi all,

we have the following issue: We have our custom engine for plotting scientific data, hence we need to do a lot of validations in ranorex based on screenshots. Our problem is that, changing just a margin by 1px, many ranorex tests fail and replacing all screenshots is a pain.
Reducing the image similarity is not an option!
Currently we have to run all tests manually till the correct screenshot can be created and replaced... it takes hours.

We would like to write our custom image compare function in ranorex that compares two images as the default one does but if a global flag is set via command line parameter, we would like to replace all repository images by the new images instead of comparing them.

Now the actual question:

Is there a way to (over)write existing repository images from code or do we have to implement our custom image repository?

If there is an optimized workflow for our problem we would also be happy to learn it :)

Hi choosyg,

Unfortunately, Ranorex does not provide such a functionality out of the box, but if you want to raise a feature request, I'd like you to send us an email with a short description, what exactly this feature should do.

Additionally, we can discuss your intention in more detail personally.

Thank you in advance.

Regards,
