Datasource Outside of Release Directory

Post by karltinsly » Tue Jul 23, 2019 2:02 pm

Hello, I developed my Ranorex solution on my local machine. The datasource is in a folder on my local drive at c:\ranorex\data. After I've built my release (including the runtime), I copied the release directory to another machine and put the datasource in c:\ranorex\data on that machine. I would expect that the when running the solution (the .exe in the release directory), it would use the datasource I put in that local c: drive, but instead the test fails and says it can't find the datasource. Am I missing something?

I resolved this issue by copying the datasource to the release directory, and providing the user with a shortcut to it in the c:\ranorex\data folder.

Hi,

You should either use "Copy file to project" option (see User Guide chapter about managing data sources), eventually, you can add external files to project via steps described here:
