Hi Team,
While we are testing on an android device, we come across device communication timeout exception.
We tried to increase the default timeout specified in the settings -> Plugins -> connect timeout option in the studio, but no luck.
Please find the below detailed description of the error
Device communication timed out. Either no instrumented application is running on the device or the device was not able to process the request within the specified timeout of '00:00:10'. Check that an instrumented application is running on the device or try to increase the timeout
Please suggest any other approach..
Thanks in advance.
Sameena

Re: Device communication timeout
Hi Sameena,
Unfortunately we are not able to reproduce this issue.
In order to analyze this problem in detail I would need some additional information.
May I ask you to answer the following questions?
Thank you in advance

Markus (S)

May I ask you to answer the following questions?
- Which version of Ranorex is installed on your machine?
- Which Operating System are you using?
- On which device/Android version are you testing?
- Which service apk is installed on your device?
- Was your application instrumented by code or by wizard?
- Is it possible for you to send us your application, so we can try to reproduce this issue on our side?
Thank you in advance

Hi Sameena,
Thank you for the requested information.
Unfortunately we were not able to reproduce this problem on our side.
May I ask you to send us your application?
This would be really helpful for us to analyze the problem in detail and to find a solution for that.
May I also ask you, is this topic about the same problem?
Regards,
Markus (S).

Re: Device communication timeout
Hi,
It's been a while since the last post, but because I faced this issue again, I've thought the solution might help others.
So, the error's message says "Device communication timed out." Well, it turned out that the targeted setting is Global Settings -> Plugins -> Mobile -> Remote call timeout.
I've tested this option with different values and when smaller than 5s that error occurs from time to time.
On the other hand, when 'Connect timeout' option is low, it triggers another type of message.
You are welcome!

Re: Device communication timeout
Hi Lucian,
Thank you for providing your solution.
I’d recommend setting both values to 30 seconds or higher.
Please find a screenshot of these mentioned settings below.
