Difference between snapshot and screenshot

What's the difference between snapshot and screenshot? Is there ever a benefit or use case to use a snapshot?

Hi,

Snapshot is a complete UI structure of an element (or entire application), stored in xml file. It could be used either for debugging or validation purposes. For an example of using Ranorex snapshot as a validation file, check for example this example code:

Screenshot is a simple image, which could be used for presentation purposes and image-based actions
