Error pressing cancel button of browser dialog

Post by [email protected]@ » Wed Mar 04, 2020 11:08 am

Hi,
I has a issue following:
Xpath of button cancel current i am using: "/winapp[@appid='MicrosoftEdge']//button[@automationid='m_button1']"
I perform press click cancel button but not clickable and give the following error:
Item btnCancel is no ButtonTag.
The element does not support the required capability 'buttontag'.
I tried change the xpath of cancel button to "/winapp[@appid='MicrosoftEdge']//buttontag[@automationid='m_button1']" but still error and using spy to check element result is no find element.
Please refer to attached snapshot.
Please help me fix this!
Thanks.

Hi Rose,

Could you try to set the "Adapter Type" of the element to "Button" and check if it works afterwards?

Hi TroubleMaker,
I can't set the "Adapter Type" of the element to "Button".
Can you show me how to set it up?

Hi,

It seems that you are using an outdated and no longer supported Ranorex 8.3.1?

Please update Ranorex with most recent 9.3.0. or, at very least, 9.2.1 and try to reproduce your problem. You see, there were a lot of bug fixes introduced between 8.3.1 and 9.3.0 and it's possible that your issue is already fixed? Therefore, it makes no sense to debug this kind of issue in an outdated Ranorex version. Thanks.

Additionally, new (Chrome based) Edge is officially supported in currently released 9.3.0. So if you are using new Edge with old Ranorex, it may not work as expected!

Hi odklizec ,
On 2020/02/20 I still ran well, but today I ran again and it failed.

Hi,

I'm afraid, I can't help you with that. Have you tried it with most recent version (or 9.2.1)? Apparently, something changed in in your system between 2020/02/20 and today? Maybe a windows update affected it? Have you tried it on another PC?

I think you will have to contact Ranorex support and request a remote session with them, so they can analyze the problem in a realtime. But I'm sure that the first thing they will ask you to do is to update your existing Ranorex version with new one ;) There is no way around this.
