Excel DDT using diff WorkSheets for diff testcases

Post by Nagulameera Shaik » Fri Jul 01, 2016 1:08 pm

Hi All,

I am in a situation where two(more) test cases needs different kinds of data and tried as below
1) Created excel sheets and bind one excel sheet with one test case. As soon as I bind second sheet with second test case, I lost binding with first spread sheet in first test case.

2) Then tried with one spread sheet using Data Range option, I am facing the below issue
By default first row considering as Data Column but in my case Data columns are different for different test cases. so its confusing while binding other test cases.
for example I have data columns(first row) for first test case as ------ AA BB CC -> it works fine for first test case.
For second test case data columns or variable heading are --- XX YY ZZ. When I am trying to binding, Data columns ( variable headings) are still showing as --- AA BB CC.

My Question is: When first option is not possible and second allows me using Data Range option, my expectation is like every first row in data range should act as a Data Column or Variable header.
ex:
First testcase --- Data range 1-7 -- means --- 1st row is a data column
Second testcase --- Data range 10-25 -- means --- 10th row is a data column
Third testcase --- Data range 30-50 -- means --- 30th row is a data column

It would be great if any one helps me to do so.

Thanks in advance

Hello Nagulameera Shaik,

Basically, using the same excel file for different data connectors simultaneously should work. May I ask which version of Ranorex you currently use? In any case, I would suggest updating to the latest version of Ranorex Studio, 6.0.1. More information about this version can be found in the release notes.

In your case, the best solutions would be storing the test data to different excel sheets (as you already tried) or separating data into different excel files.

Please do let me know if updating to Ranorex 6.0.1 resolves the current issue.

Sincerely,
Johannes
