Feature Request: Location Co-ordinates Display

Post by slither » Wed Jul 15, 2009 2:45 pm

Hi,

I'm currently trying to map controls in an older application (VB6), and once of the controls (TabStrip) is not supported by Ranorex. So in order to interact with the tabs, I will have to use the .Click(Location) method.

It would be nice that when a control is instant tracked (ctrl+lwin), that we could have, somewhere on the RanorexSpy window, the Location coordinates where the mouse pointer was at the time the element was tracked, could be displayed (co-ordinates relative to the element).

this would make the control mapping much easier for unsupported controls.

Thank You.

Hello slither,

thanks for your request.
During Recording a action with Ranorex Recorder (standalone or Studio) the element location will be saved.
(You can find this under Properties -> Element Location in action grid).
i think this co-ordinates can help you with your issue.

The actual mouse position clicked would certainly be useful, relative to the object of course. I have a weird piece of Delphi code to automate that appears to Ranorex as one huge control (600x400 pixels). My current plan is to do some recordings and use the Click() locations from there for my own code, but being able to use just Spy for the taks would make the whole process smoother.
