Firefox extension grayed out in Instrumentation wizard.

Post by seldin » Wed Mar 28, 2018 3:45 pm

Hi,
I am trying to instrument one of my Virtual machines with the firefox extension. Using the Instrumentation wizard the Mozilla Firefox choice is grayed out and cannot be selected.

My workaround was to export the xpi file from another machine and copy it manually into my VM firefox extensions folder.

My issue now is that I am not able to see the doms in firefox. I need to be able to inspect the webdocument and doms of the browser and these elements are not available.

Could there be something wrong with my installation or a missing piece that will allow me to gain access to the Firefox Dom/WedDocument elements?

Ranorex plugin v 1.0.33
Firefox 59.0.2

Thanks,
SE

Hi,

Are you, by any chance, using Firefox Portable? Because in this case, there is missing registry entry with FF path and therefore, Ranorex instrumentation wizard is unable to find the FF installation folder.

Anyway, copying xpi file to extension folder is not enough. Try to drag&drop xpi file to FF window, eventually, use menu File>> Open (in FF) to install the extension.
