Forum Spam

Post by krstcs » Tue Jul 02, 2013 4:10 pm

Ranorex Support:

Starting to see a lot of forum spam the last couple of days.

You guys might want to implement some form of CAPTCHA to keep the bot spammers at bay as your current method is very easy to get around. I can use Ranorex to automate the verification on the registration page very quickly.

I have a feeling that if you don't we might be seeing other security issues soon, like private message spam, etc.

I would also suggest to implement Anti-Spam ACP mod (with stopforumspam account). It does really excellent job in forum spam reduction. It may not eliminate all human spammers, but it's really great when it comes to spam bots and human spammers who are already reported at stop forum spam...

Hello,

Thank you for your suggestions.
The problem is that the version of our phpBB is not up to date. I will discuss with the responsible person in our company if it is possible and safe to integrate a plugin which supports some kind of CAPTCHA and/or Anti-spam functionality.
Thank you!

Regards,
Bernhard

Hello,

We have recently applied steps for a Anti-Spam protection.
It should reduce the amount of Spam significantly.

Regards,
