General check of repository elements

Post by uschumac » Fri Jun 07, 2019 6:39 am

Hi,

let's assume that there has been a thorough overhaul of AUT UI, so many repository elements may no longer be correct. Is it possible to make a general check of the repository elements to determine which are still correct, without executing test suites and looking for recognition failures?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Unless your test is not performed on a 'single page', with all repo elements located on the same page, then no, anything like this automatic check of all repo elements is not possible. You see, the repo elements you created during the creation of your test suite, were most probably taken at various places of the AUT? Hence it's required to set the AUT's GUI to the state, where the individual repo elements are expected to be available. And it's not possible, without either running your test, or setting the GUI manually.
