How do I turn off Ranorex Exception Logs

Post by scrushmaster » Fri Mar 16, 2018 6:31 pm

I have a bunch of Ranorex scripts running on windows 10 via Jenkins command line. How do I stop Ranorex from adding to the text logs under "\documents\ranorex\logs" any time an exception happens? It gets clogged up after a while.

Hi,

You can disable tracing logs in Ranorex settings:

Please add these details to your questions:
  • Ranorex Snapshot. Learn how to create one >here<
  • Ranorex xPath of problematic element(s)
  • Ranorex version
  • OS version
  • HW configuration

Unfortunately, this value is not persisted. In order to disable logging or set a different log level, you need to edit the "NLog.config" file, either in the execution directory (if exists) or in the Ranorex installation "bin" directory.
Open the NLog.config in an editor and edit the "minlevel" in below line, which is almost at the very end of the file, to something higher than Debug (e.g. "Info") or "Off" to disable:
<logger name="*" minlevel="Info" writeTo="ranorex-logfile" />
By default, the logger creates a new file for each process (i.e. each test executable) and overwrites existing log files if they reach a certain file size (default 10MB). So, unless you have an unlimited number of test executables, the size of all log files should be limited, too :D
