Identify repository items by name

Hi,
i have two versions of the same application. One is written in Vb6, the other one is the first one migrated to VbNet. I have build a repository for both of them. Of course the elements have sometimes a different path. So i would like to identify the elements by their names. Is that possible? If not how can i achieve my goal?

Have you used Ranorex Spy to take a look at the different AUTs and determine how each element is recognized?

Hi,

Your goal is to use one repository for both version of your application, right?
So I would use Spy to find a RxPath which will find the same elements in both of your versions of your application. For this purpose you should use the RxPath editor of the Spy tool, here are some useful links about this topic:
