IE Crashes

Post by jmckinstry » Wed Dec 11, 2013 4:20 pm

I am using Ranorex version 4.1.4 (just upgrades from 4.1.2 to see if it would fix this error) with IE 10.0 and
Windows 7.

When running a test, IE crashes after the URL is opened, before any other line of the test is run. The test is simple - 1) Open the URL; 2) Make a selection from a drop down list; 3) Click a button.

I have recently changed computers and all of my tests ran perfectly on the old machine, but nothing seems to work on the new one. I did not do anything special or change any settings on the old computer to be able to run the Ranorex tests when I first installed it. And there is no way to check the settings on the old computer.

The error states that "Internet Explorer has stopped working" It gives me the option to Close, Debug or Search for a solution online. When I click to view the problem details, I get:

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BEX

I looked at the forum entry from May with an error like this, but that sounds very "kludgy" and was hoping that there would be a real fix for this.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Jeff

Quick Update:

After doing some reading about the BEX error that is being generated by IE 10, I found an article that suggested checking the Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering box under the Internet Options | Advanced tab. When I did I was able to run individual tests ~sometimes~, but it would always crash with the same error when I tried to run whole test cases.

One More Update:

Now, if I click "Close the Application", the test reloads IE and the test runs normally. However when running a whole test case, I have to click "Close the Application" after every individual test case.

UPDATE: Turns out that this was a problem with only one of our custom programs. Looks like I chose the only one that had this problem.

Hello,

Thank you for the information.
Is it possible to enable the internal logging in Ranorex and send us the log file? Please read the post in the following URL in order to get more information how to enable the logging mechanism.
