Image Automation on Citrix XenApp

Post by phareds » Fri Jun 26, 2015 6:05 am

Hello,

I'm doing POC on Citrix XenApp to do shakeout testing to ensure applications loaded through Citrix are connected through simple log-in and transactions.

I'm using the image recognition features of ranorex as Citrix returns an image.

Ranorex 5.3.2

1) Recording the steps using image base
2) Editing the image to select a portion of the image to find (NOT the entire screen, as parts of the image will be different). I.e Will look for a the Create New Case Image
3) Where an image section is not unique (drop down box), I will find the image for the label and use relative positions

What I'm finding is intermittent problems. After the initial record and editing, everything seems to be find but when i move away from the recording and try to include it in another test case with multiple recordings, the results are not consistent. I.e the image cannot be found.

I'm playing around with the similarity settings but it seems to increase the runtime significantly.

Are there any known issues / workarounds / best practice for using image recognition like this?

Hello phareds,

I assume that the elements within the application cannot be recognized with any Ranorex plugin. May I ask which technology does Citrix XenApp use (WinForms, WPF, Web, ...)?
Is it possible to send a Ranorex Snapshot file?
You wrote that you already tried to change the similarity factor and that this increased the runtime, but did that help finding the elements?
