Image capture fails and hung when capture 1200x1200 image

Post by mcravi » Thu Feb 05, 2015 9:22 am

Hello All,

I am using Renorex 5.2 and observed the following issue when capture the image using image based recording option.

I need to validate the image which is of size 1200x1200. Tried image validation using Image based Recording option and observed Renorex studio hung and requires restart. Image capture works fine for small images like button icon, dialog.

How we can capture the image of larger in size?

Thanks in advance

Regards
Ravi.C

Hello Ravi,

Thank you for reporting an issue, but unfortunately I cannot reproduce the issue on my machine.
I tried to do an image validation on an image with the size 4608x2592, but had no issues.
Did you get any error messages?
Please make sure that the latest Ranorex version is installed on your machine (Rnaorex 5.2.2).
You can also enable the internal logging feature in Ranorex Studio as shown in the image below. The setting can be enabled in the global settings dialog.

The logfile will be created in the project folder of you solution.

Bernhard

Thank you Bernhard.

I have updated the system with 5.2.2. version and enabled the trace.
Can I have the log file extension and the location its create?

Thanks in advance

Hi Ravi,

the location should be the same as the location where the RanorexStudio.exe executable is.
If this doesn't work please follow the steps which Markus described in the post: http://www.ranorex.com/forum/thread-abo ... tml#p28450

Please also copy the file into the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Ranorex 5.2\RanorexStudio\bin" directory and start Ranorex Studio as administrator using the RanorexStudio.exe file which is located in the same folder.

Regards,
Bernhard

Hello Bernhard,

Please find the following attachments
1. "Renorex - Image compare issue.pdf" file explains my observation
2. Since I have not noticed the log files in a specified location, also attaching Renorex project solution file "CompareImages.zip", for your reference

Thanks & Regards

Hi Ravi,

Thank you for providing your files. Unfortunately it seems there was a mistake while uploading, both files are the same. May I ask you to upload “Ranorex – Image compare issue.pdf” again?
Thank you.

Regarding the log file
Please ensure that Ranorex Studio is started with Administrator Privileges. Otherwise, there will be no log file created.

Regards,
Markus (S)

Sorry for inconvenience

Yes, now I am able to generate a log file.

Scenario:
1. Started Ranorex as a administrator
2. Started Image based recording, by selecting Validate option.
3. Mouse clicked on the image area which I want to capture. Observed no image captured and ranorex is not responded further. I stopped recording using "Shift+Esc" option.
4. Started another recording, but I could not able to move the mouse further. Stopped Recording.
5. Requires Ranorex application restart to work on further recording.

Attachment: Log file

Thanks & Regards

Hi Ravi,
Thank you again for uploading the file.

Unfortunately, the Log file contains several FATAL errors
(System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory)
May I ask you to contact me by email ([email protected])?
I’d like to analyze the issue directly with you.

Thank you.

Markus (S)
