Internet Explorer Flex object information

Post by JanUrbanski » Wed Mar 11, 2015 6:16 pm

My company has Ranorex 5.2 with which we are starting to develop automation/regression scripts. Our application is a SAAS Flex UI application which promotes object identities.

I have downloaded a trial version of Ranorex 5.3 and cannot understand why the object Identities cannot be realised. The Spy shows information but not Id.

I am Windows 7 running the latest IE 11 and the plugin from ranorex is available and enabled (v5.3.0.22324)

I just cannot get it to report the flex object identity field.

Any ideas Please

Hi Jan,

We unfortunately need some more information in order to be able to analyze this issue.

Are you still able to identify the Id of the same element with Ranorex 5.2?
May I also ask you which Flex SDK version and which flash player version is used and if that changed previously?
Do you use the same flash player and AUT version on the system where it still works and where Ranorex 5.2 is installed?
I am asking since I want to figure out what are the differences between the working and the not working machines.

Thank you for the additional information.

Regards,
Markus

Hi Markus,

Today we installed the demo version of 5.3 on two different machines.
We applied the Flex plugin to IE, Firefox and chrome and in all cases the object reveal does not show the identity when the XSpy is used to discover it.
Flex revisions are identical between good and bad so the only notable difference is that 5.2 is a licensed version and reveals the identity and 5.3 is demo version and does not work.

If you have a setup can I ask you to go to https://fundhivedev.spectrags.com and when login box is up try XSpy and hover over the input text boxes. They should give an identity.

Cheers

Jan

We have reversed all 5.3 attempts to 5,2 and can report that everything works as expected.

It would seem that 5.3 has a problem.

Cheers

Hi,

This issue should be fixed with the next bug fix versions, which would be 5.2.4 and 5.3.1.

Markus

Hi,

I'm afraid, it's impossible to tell what's wrong without seeing the problematic flex element. Could you please share the page you are trying to automate? If it's something you can't share publicly, try to contact Ranorex support via their support query form, available here:
