Keep your Firefox tests working (after rel. of Firefox 40)

Post by Support Team » Mon Aug 10, 2015 9:57 am

Hello,

In the week of August 11, Firefox 40 will be released. This Firefox upgrade no longer supports the add-in technology Ranorex is currently using. Ranorex is in the process of preparing a comprehensive upgrade of its Firefox extension to meet the new requirements and also requirements for the near future (signing of extensions, multi-process Firefox). To keep your Firefox web tests working with Ranorex please do not upgrade to Firefox 40 until Ranorex updates its automation extension. Step-by-Step instructions on how to deactivate Firefox auto-updates can be found below.
The new Ranorex update (supporting Firefox 40) will be announced soon in the Ranorex forum and on the Ranorex Website soon.

Deactivate Auto-Update
Here’s how to prevent Firefox from auto-updating. Please change this setting on every machine being involved in automated web-testing with Ranorex via the Firefox web browser.
1.) Open Firefox, navigate to “about:preferences#advanced” and open the "Update" tab.
2.) Select “Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install them”

Downgrade to on older Firefox version
If Firefox 40 is already installed on your system, you can easily install an older version. Please find more information on the Mozilla Website.

Please contact [email protected] if you have any questions.
Your Ranorex Team.

Hello everybody,

I'm happy to inform you that Ranorex 5.4.1 with support for Firefox 40 has been released and is now available for download!
If you are still using Ranorex 5.4.0 and Firefox 40 please upgrade Ranorex to the newest version and rerun the Instrumentation Wizard for Firefox.

Kind Regards,
Your Ranorex Team
