Multiple repositories

Post by sivakumaran » Tue Jan 19, 2016 5:32 am

we have multiple peoples working on evaluation of ranorex for automating our desktop application.

because of that I decided to have multiple repositories.
the approach is to one dedicated repository for all global UI items like application toolbar or menu

I call it as global UI item because, they don't belong to a particular editor or particular workflow.
and to have dedicated repository editorwise.

So my question due to this is finally how do we merge all these repositories?
Do you have better ideas how to segregate or modularize these repositories?

best regards,

I would suggest using only one repository. You can then just allow the version control system (you should be using one as this is a software development project!!) to manage the merges. Just have each person create branches for the part of the project they are working on and merge them into master when they have been tested. Then all other branches should merge in from master whenever master changes. That way everyone is always up-to-date with master so when they merge back to master there is less work to do.

If you use git/GitHub you can also use the PULL REQUEST functionality to allow for peer review.
