Powered USB Hub Recommendations

Post by tvu » Mon Mar 20, 2017 5:20 pm

Hi All,

Can anyone recommend a powered hub I can use to keep an iPad charged and deploy apps using the same USB port? I've found several where one port can charge, but I would have to switch to another port for data. I would like to pretty much just plug it in and forget about it.

We run some long regressions once in awhile and I usually would deploy the app then plug the iPad into a charger to avoid a low battery situation. Then I would run the tests via a WiFi connection. I am trying to avoid this.

This one looks promising, but there are conflicting comments about whether the PowerIQ ports can transfer data or not. The PowerIQ ports can support up to 2.1A each.

Thanks in advance.

Every powered USB hub I've ever owned or used had power to all ports.

You could also just plug it directly into the PC that you are running the tests on.

I currently have it plugged directly to the PC. Standard USB port only provides 0.9A of power and the iPad requires 2.1A. I don't have any issues if I run automation on the iPad for only a few hours a day. If I use it for an extended period then the trickle charge can't keep up and the iPad would run out of battery.
