I am trying to automate testing for the as400 console (5250) through ranorex.
In the normal recording mode, and the recording process generates record correctly as only the mouse and key actions are recorded.
However, If I am using image based testing method, then this recording fails at run time as it is not able to capture the images/objects) because it looks for the object method name to find the right image.
What I had in mind was to look at a particular screen state during the test and only proceed if some element is present or not.
Further inconveniences that I faced were :
lack of control with tester to specify which specific image portion(for correctness) to click / which screen to wait for for working with images during the record time itself.
Iteration over actions : Upon trying to repeat certain actions, I am using variables bounded to data sources. These cause entire test to repeat again - I am using small test for these actions in my testsuite due to absence of some iterative construct
Please correct me where some best practice could be taken as I might not be thinking in accordance with ranorex guidelines.
