Re: Queries for iOS test automation
Hi,
What kind of scripting you mean? Ranorex offers fully featured C# or VB.net language for advanced programming of test scenarios. Other automation tools (even the big names like QTP or Test Complete) offers somewhat limited scripting languages (VB Script, Java Script, Python, etc).
Scripting languages usually offer easier start and adoption, especially for people with no or limited programming skills. On the other hand, fully featured programming languages like C# or VB .NET usually offer better access to standard GUI/system libraries, easier debugging, faster running speed and offers programming of advanced things like threading.

Ok.
Also one more thing.
Ranorex is running on Windows XP/7 and my application is on iPad/iPhone.Is it required to keep .exe files of every build in root folder of Ranorex to test it?

Re: Queries for iOS test automation
I believe IOS is WiFi only... I don't do IOS testing so I could be mistaken...
Code: Select all

Can i integrate Ranorex with AccuRev?
Actually we are using AccuRev in our project for continous integration, version control, tracking and reporting functionality.I have little bit idea about integrating Ranorex with HP-QC and Visual studio but is it possible to integrate with AccuRev as its strong demand from client.
I hope you will provide solution on this.
Please reply.Thanks.

Hello,
iOS automation via USB will be possible with Ranorex 4.1.0.
I added your email address to our newsletter in order to get informed about new releases.
I will add your feature request for integrating AccuRev to our internal bug tracking system.
Our development team will analyze a possible future integration.

Re: Queries for iOS test automation
Hi,
We tried to connect an iPad device using router through WiFi to our m/c(Windows XP) where Ranorex is installed.
Ranorex is not able to add iPad device and showing error as given in screen shot.
Do we need any type of test agent running on iPad so that ranorex will identify the device?
Also ,initially we do not have any type of application under test(AUT) on iPad but we do have existing apps running on iPad.
We are stuck due to this and not able to proceed further.
Please assist as soon as possible.
Thanks.

Did you read ANY of the user guide I linked in the first response?
You must instrument and deploy your AUT as well as follow other instructions...

Re: Queries for iOS test automation
Hi,
After going through the documents provided by you,we were finally able to connect to our device and run tests on it.
I have few query regarding report ,Currently report shows details of system summary where our ranorex is installed(Windows XP system details) but I was not able to get the system summary details of the iPad/running App.
Can you please let us know if we can also get the iPad( h/w, OS, App version) details in our Test report?
Thanks.

Re: Queries for iOS test automation
Hello,
Regarding your question about iPad information:
The report does not show any information about mobile devices by default.
Nevertheless, you could get the 'OSVersion' from the application element:store this value in a variable and log this value.
Please note that each line in your CSV file is executed as one iteration with all actions in your test.
Therefore, the browser is also started several times.
I would highly recommend to take a look at our User Guide and Screencasts about Data-Driven-Testing:
