Ranorex 5.3.1 getting crashed while recording

Presently I am using Ranorex 5.3.1, which is getting a crash every time I try to record the specific field of the form.
But for the same field, if previously recorded test cases are executed then no error or crash is reported.

Please advise the possible solution for this issue.

Hi,

At first, Ranorex 5.3.1 is quite old and no longer supported. My first suggestion would be to try the latest 6.0 or previous 5.4.6. If these does not crash during recording, then you will have to update your Ranorex version. BTW, what happens if you try to "track" the element with Track button in Studio or standalone Spy?

At second, could you please post the exact error message you are getting and Ranorex snapshot (not screenshot!) of the element in question (supposing it does not crash spy during an attempt to save the snapshot).

Thanks for your immediate response !!

As per your suggestion, I tried the recording after installing Ranorex ver 5.4.6 and 6.0 but still unable to record and Ranorex is getting crashed. So I tried installing Ranorex ver 3.3, where the Ranorex recording was possible.

I was unable to take the Ranorex Screenshot because it is getting crashed.

As per your question in the above post regarding Tracking, that is also not possible.

Please advise.

Thanks for the feedback. OK, what kind of technology is this problematic control (wpf, qt, java, html, etc...)? Could you please post a sample app or HTML code (in case it's a web app)?

What you can try is to try to reinstall .net. If the control worked before and all of suddenly started to crash Ranorex, it may be a problem with .net libs?

Also, please post the Ranorex crash event log (check >this article< how to find it).
