Ranorex license usage in different environment

Post by Pallavi » Thu Jun 14, 2012 12:52 pm

Hi support Team,

We are using Ranorex License 3.2.3 in our stress (Previous environment of Live).
Our purchase license server key which provided by your company is installed on stress.
Now we want to use Ranorex license and Ranorex on different environment.
My Query is that Do we have to reinstall the server license on different environment with same key?
if yes then What are the steps to do the same?

Or
1) can we use same key in both environment ?
2) Can we simply provide the license server info in the Ranorex tool and work?

And will our existing scripts be work on different environment that are made for same application?
Regards
Pallavi

Hi,

I assume you have a floating license, is this correct?
Now you want to use Ranorex on another machine or do you want to install the Ranorex License Server Tool on another machine?
In general floating licenses can be used on different machines if they have a network connection to the License Sever, but if you want to switch the License Server you/we have to perform a license transfer.
The Ranorex scripts will work on different environments for the same application if the other environment fulfills the requirements.
Here is the link to the section about Licensing.

Thanks for information.

We are using Ranorex floating license.
Our requirement is like we want to switch our setup to different environment for different machines.
So we want to use both Ranorex tool and Ranorex license on another server/machines.

As I understood to transfer Floating Ranorex license server we just have to uninstall from one location and install in another location with Key. Right?

No, the license has to be uninstalled and a license transferred has to be performed.
You can't transfer your server licenses every few weeks, as the floating licenses are designed to be installed on a specific server in a network to allow users from different machines in the network to use the installed floating licenses on their machines, but it is not designed for such a continuous change of the server machine itself.
