Ranorex Spy unable to view elements on Chrome Browser.
Ranorex Spy unable to view elements on Chrome Browser.
I'm am unable to view elements of a webpage running on Chrome Browser. When I try to 'track' any of the elements I can only view at the Form level. I have tried 'tracking' the elements on the Ranorex Test Page in Chrome without success. I am running Ranorex 8.0.1.0 and Chrome 64.0.3282.186. I have the Ranorex Extension enabled in Chrome. I keep getting the Ranorex Technology Limitation popup.
Re: Ranorex Spy unable to view elements on Chrome Browser.
Hi,
I'm curious, is it the problematic element a Login form? Because I'm experiencing the same issue with Chrome. The technology limitation warning could be solved (temporarily) by reinstalling Chrome plugin. But the Login form is not traceable at all. I already reported this issue to Ranorex support and they are looking into it.

In addition, what version of the Ranorex Chrome plugin are you running? It's possible you have the old one installed.

Re: Ranorex Spy unable to view elements on Chrome Browser.
Hi Kelly,
Good idea, but it's most probably not a problem of old Chrome plugin. There is something wrong with Chrome plugin, regarding the native Chrome dialogs (elements outside DOM).

Re: Ranorex Spy unable to view elements on Chrome Browser.
He doesn't say anything about the native login form elements, but about the whole web page, including when trying on the Ranorex test page. That leads me to believe that this isn't about the issue you brought up, but about a wrong plugin version, or a bad plugin install. What he does say about forms appears to be the whole Chrome form, which is what happens when the correct plugin is not installed.
You could be right, but you are the one who brought up the native login forms, not Eamonn.

Fair point!
We will see what issue exactly he is experiencing.

Re: Ranorex Spy unable to view elements on Chrome Browser.
I deleted the chrome Ranorex extension and added it again. But issue remained. I have now unchecked the 'Allow access to file URL's' and the issue appears to have disappeared. Thanks for all your help and advice. I hope I have not got a temporary reprieve?
Re: Ranorex Spy unable to view elements on Chrome Browser.
Hmm... I always check both that and "Allow in Incognito" and they both work fine. Wonder what the real issue is, seems strange.
Glad you got it worked out, though!
