Why does the "Ranorex Technology Limitation" pop up dialog keeps showing when I've already installed the Ranorex Extension installed and enabled in Google Chrome?
(when you start a Ranorex Recording)
Ranorex Technology Limitation pop up
Re: Ranorex Technology Limitation pop up
Without more information it's going to be impossible to help.
What version of Ranorex are you using?
What is your environment/OS?
What is the EXACT message of the popup? (Screenshot the popup if needed...)
Do you have other software running in the background (Visual Studio, Oracle VM VirtualBox, etc.)?
In the future, please include as much information as possible in your posts in order to make sure everyone knows what's going on without having to ask for it.

Re: Ranorex Technology Limitation pop up
krstcs,
Sorry, here are some more details.
Ranorex version: 5.4.4 the latest
OS / Environment: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, Google Chrome version: 47
Other software running: MS Word, Cisco Jabber, besides Ranorex Studio and Google Chrome
Pop up message shows:
Ranorex Technology Limitation
Technology: Chrome
Please make sure that you have the Ranorex Extension installed and enabled in your Chrome browser. Otherwise Ranorex UI element identification capabilities for Chrome are limited.
[Run Wizard] Read more...
Note: Again, the Ranorex extension have already been installed and enabled. What could be causing this pop up to display when extension already installed and enabled.

Re: Ranorex Technology Limitation pop up
Where did you install it from? It must be the one from the Chrome Web Store. You should also make sure that you select both the "Allow access to local files" and "Allow in safe mode" (or whatever the names are) under options.

Re: Ranorex Technology Limitation pop up
Actually, I don't remember, krstcs.
My user credentials was not allowed to do the installation as it tells me "Blocked by Administrators".
So I had to open a ticket, IT Helpdesk, calls and gets control of my screen and did the install for me.
Now that our Security Team kind of gave me the rights I need to do the install, maybe I should re-install this Google Chrome Extension for Ranorex.
Thanks.
Gilbert

Re: Ranorex Technology Limitation pop up
You are developing software. You need to have FULL administrative rights on your system and any other system that you will be using to write/build/run your test software.
And, yes, you probably need to re-install the extension.

Hi krstcs, krstcs wrote:Where did you install it from? It must be the one from the Chrome Web Store. You should also make sure that you select both the "Allow access to local files" and "Allow in safe mode" (or whatever the names are) under options.
Which User-Agent Switcher should I install?
1. User-Agent Switcher for Chorme from Glenn Wilson
2. User-Agent Switcher from hyyp://www.esolutions.se
3. User Agent Switcher, URL snipper from iblogbox.com
Where do I find the "Allow access to local files" and "Allow in safe mode.
I see "Allow in incognito".
Thanks,
Gilbert
Re: Ranorex Technology Limitation pop up
When I said that, I was referring to the Ranorex Extension for Chrome. You should NOT allow those options for any other extension unless you KNOW they are safe.
As far as User-Agent Switcher, I don't use it any more (no more web testing for me right now) and I only used one of the ones in Firefox when I did, so I can't help with Chrome, sorry.
