Register.exe fails on Vista32

Post by Mike » Tue Oct 23, 2007 12:25 am

After installing Ranorex on a Vista32 box, when I run Register.exe I get the following error:

"Register error! Cannot found RanorexCore.dll Please contact the manufacturer!"

I verified that RanorexCore.dll did, in fact, exist. I ran Test-All.bat and it ran, though I did get an invalid license key error near the end of the tests. The Dlls are in the right places and function. Our license is valid. What do I need to do to get RanorexPro to run on Vista?

Thanks,
Mike

Dear Mike,

If the UAC (User Account Control) is turned on all files in "Program Files" are write protected.
  • Turn UAC off, call register.exe and turn UAC on again
Turn UAC off using MSCONFIG. Just start up MSCONFIG.EXE, click the last tab, and there you can turn UAC off (and back on again). You'll have to reboot for this change to take effect.

    OR
  • Just copy the Ranorex Setup folder out of "Program Files"
