.rxrep and .rxrec files in Visual Studio

Post by rcd.guerra » Mon Apr 27, 2009 10:56 am

Hello there,

i want to have this files in Visual Studio in order to open them with the proper tools (Spy and Recorder).

The issue is that i cant group the files with its corresponding class (as partial classes are).
If i opened a Ranorex project in VisualStudio the files are displayed properly but i cant seem to do it myself.
I tried to change the .csproj file to match the one created by Ranorex but with no luck.

Any advise ?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Ricardo

I simple added the files .rxrep and .cs (add existing item) to a folder in my project.
The .cs files is generated out of the .rxrep. --> to use the repository in VS.

To open the files i right-click ... open with RanorexSpy (add .exe first time).

I wouldn´t recommend u to switch between Ranorex Studio and VS.

Thanks for your reply MM-P.

When i add the existing items the files are not being grouped, that is, shown as one with the plus sign before the tree item. That's the issue. I don't want to have separate files being displayed even though i know the .cs is generated from the .rxrep.
I wouldn´t recommend u to switch between Ranorex Studio and VS.
Please elaborate and how are you managing/executing your test suite ?

Thanks a lot!

Cheers,
Ricardo

Support Team,

any tip on this?

In Visual Studio when i manually add the .rx files they are included.

But i wanted them to be grouped as partial classes like this (marked with red rectangles).

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Ricardo

Ranorex Recoding and Repository files in Visual Studio

Post by Support Team » Tue Apr 28, 2009 10:20 am

Ranorex Recoding and Repository files are not supported in visual studio at this time. The development of a Ranorex plug-in for Visual Studio is in progress and will be available in the near future, most likely by the end of the year. Until then you may use Visual Studio in combination with Ranorex Studio as the project files are compatible.

Hello Manu,

Currently, we don't provide a Ranorex plugin for Visual Studio.
You could add Ranorex libraries to your Visual Studio project though.
Please take a look at our User Guide for more information.

Do you want to open an existing repository in Visual Studio or create a new one?
