According to Ranorex support the Addon issue is solved and currently in testing cycle, should be in the next release.
It is now several months later. This is still broken in Ranorex version 10.7.4.

I had the same problem when upgrading from Ranorex 8.3 to 9.2. Chrome simply wouldn't work and I saw the same error message shown in the original post. This happens to me as well. Ranorex Version 5.4.2.25689 on Windows 8.1, running Ranorex with administrator privileges.
