I tried rebooting and using a clean startup and ran into the same issue. Modifying the settings solved the problem.

I was able to get a response back from the Ranorex team and this solved the problem:

As a first try, did you already disable the “asynchronous keyboard and mouse dispatching”?

I was trying to automate a flash application - speedtest.net. However, if I try to record web or desktop application -e.g. putty the cursor locks up and doesn't move. Once I hit record that is all the further I can go. I have to hit shift+esc to get control of my cursor.
