Re: "The automating process does not have the required security"

One thing for Ranorex to do would be better error messages that are closer to the real problem. There were actually two different error messages in the log messages you posted. The "Failed to retrieve handle to bootstrapper library" is the one that really caused the issue. The error message may not...

Re: "The automating process does not have the required security"

I have fixed this by removing all Ranorex DLLs from the build directory. It seems some of them got copied in by Visual Studio but then Ranorex can't find other dependencies. One thing for Ranorex to do would be better error messages that are closer to the real problem. In my case it should have been...

Re: Can't run two client apps with node locked license

Hi, I'm not quite sure I understand your problem? What does have the client app (the AUT) to do with the Ranorex license? I mean, are you trying to run two concurrent instances of Ranorex test with he same license? I'm afraid, that's not possible. And it seems there is even a note about this in Ran...

Can't run two client apps with node locked license

We are having a problem with Ranorex 7.1.1. We have an app that uses Ranorex assemblies to automate UIs on our device. We have node-locked licenses because due to the nature of the product we often can't have a network connection to a license server. I just upgraded from Ranorex 4 to Ranorex 7.1.1. ...

Re: "The automating process does not have the required security"

Hi, I'm afraid, it's hard to tell what's wrong without seeing the exact setup and all apps you are using in the process. If Ranorex alone works fine with the AUT, then the problem is most probably in the "other" app, from which you are running the whole process? But as said, It's hard to suggest so...

"The automating process does not have the required security"

I have an app that tries to automate another app through Ranorex and the WPF adapter. Spy works fine on this machine. The OS is Windows 8.1 and both the automating and automated app are .NET 4.5. But when I try it through my app I get output like this. UIA works fine with the same code. Any ideas? I...

Re: How to find WpfElement if mode is UiaPreferred

Hi, I would suggest to check this post about switching uiapreferred/wpfpreferred mode from code: https://www.ranorex.com/forum/how-to-set-plugin-wpf-uia-uiapreferred-in-vs-code-t7820.html I'm not quite sure if it solves your problem, but I think it's worth a try? ;) That's what I ended up doing rig...

How to find WpfElement if mode is UiaPreferred

We have a screen in our app where the WPF adapter returns more info than UIAutomation returns. Most of our code is written for UIAutomation so we want to only use the WPF adapter as needed. Using the WPF adapter only is not an option because we have seen problems with old code that can't be changed ...

Re: Equivalency instrumented vs non-instrumented code?

AFAIK Appium uses the Android MonkeyRunner API under the hood, which Ranorex also uses to automate system apps (see this chapter in the user guide). So, this way could work with Ranorex, too, but without instrumenting your app you cannot use the recorder to record actions. Alex, Can you elaborate o...

Re: Equivalency instrumented vs non-instrumented code?

In my opinion, it would be exceedingly difficult to justify to an investigator that they are equivalent. Ranorex does, indeed, change the app's files, even if they don't really change the functionality. Therefore, it would be really difficult, without doing a very extensive binary analysis, to say ...

Re: Equivalency instrumented vs non-instrumented code?

Please provide more information. What type of application are you testing? Is it on a mobile device? Web-based? Flash/Flex? Sorry, I was really unclear. It's about mobile apps on iOS and Android. I am trying to come up with a line of reasoning that demonstrates that doing most of the testing with a...

Equivalency instrumented vs non-instrumented code?

My company works in the medical device field so we have to validate all tools we are using and report to the FDA. I am kind of stuck how we could prove to the FDA that the instrumented app we are testing with Ranorex is equivalent to the non-instrumented app we will ship to the user. Has anybody els...

Re: No node-locked license for VMs anymore?

We do medical device testing so adding any kind network connection is very questionable. I hope we can work something out with Ranorex, otherwise it may be time to leave which I really don't want to because Ranorex is a very good tool.

Re: No node-locked license for VMs anymore?

We have an unlimited license so I thought it's unlimited :-). The VM restriction feels like a limit to me.

Using hardware instead of VMs would pretty much require us to leave Ranorex for cost reasons. We will have to check with them what they can offer.

No node-locked license for VMs anymore?

I am in the process of upgrading from Ranorex 4 to 6. We have an unlimited runtime license which we used with VMs before. Ranorex 6 now pops up a message that node locked licenses are not allowed in VMs but we should use a floating license. This won't work for us since many of the use cases we have ...
