Re: Recording on mobile
Hey theraviz, With mobile testing, it looks like you have your endpoint setup properly in Ranorex Studio, otherwise you wouldn't get that popup. Because of the limitations of both iOS and Android, we cannot directly record like we do with desktop or web-based tests. Instead, we'll have to use the Ra...

Re: Unsupported URL in RxBrowser
Hi Bart!
Would you be able to share the URL you're testing? If not, are there any special characters in the URL beyond the mundane A-Z and 0-9 along with the usual special characters (: . _ - /)?

Re: Customised Rep0rting
Hi theraviz, From the documentation on the Report.Screenshot method and its overloads, I don't see a way to tell Ranorex to not put the screenshot on the report, nor do I see a way to tell Ranorex to put an individual screenshot somewhere else. I'm not sure there's a way to capture a screenshot of a...

Re: AppFolder icons in the repository
Hi Hans,
This is generated by the System.Drawing.dll in the .NET Framework. The icon that shows up in the Repository is dependent upon the type of object that Ranorex detects when that object is added to the Repository. I hope this helps!

Re: Possibility to upload a file like in Selenium
Hi Gyuri, Ranorex Studio is geared more towards functional UI testing, just as if a user were present at the computer. This is slightly different from the Selenium approach which allows completely headless operation without even opening a browser window. Because of this, that method doesn't exist wi...

Re: Recording 32bit applications with 64bit version of Ranorex
Hi kdreiling, You're absolutely correct. With the Bit Bridge enabled you should be able to use the 64-bit version of Ranorex Studio with 32-bit applications. While this isn't a requirement, it is helpful for Ranorex Studio. There are also some additional tips when it comes to compiling for a 64-bit ...

Re: Version Mismatch
Hi theraviz! I just attempted to update from 3.2.4 to 3.2.5 in iOS and was successful. If updating by grabbing the latest version of the app from the Mobile Downloads page on your iOS device doesn't work, I would reach out to the Support Team to see if there are any known issues with the update. --J...

Re: Execution Trouble
Hi theraviz,
Is that mobile device set as the automation root, by chance? I've seen stranger things with mobile testing, but the most common issue I run into is forgetting to set the mobile device I'm targeting as the automation root.

Re: Ranorex Local Admin Rights Question
Hi kdreiling, Local admin rights aren't always required, but they sure do help. In many cases you can use Ranorex without local admin privileges so long as the applications you are testing are using the same privileges as Ranorex Studio. You are correct in that the debugger will not work without loc...

Re: Identifying elements in iFrames on mobile testing
Hi Fergal, It could be a matter of updating the WebDriver plugin settings. From Settings -> Plugins -> WebDriver, there are a few options. By default, the "DOM update interval" is set to 1s. This seems to correspond with the 1s timeout, but I'm not sure if that's a Ranorex timeout or something in We...

Re: Identifying elements in iFrames on mobile testing
Hi Fergal, This may be something that needs to be addressed by the Ranorex Dev team. From my understanding, the Browserstack connection in Ranorex uses a WebDriver endpoint. When sending commands over to the WebDriver endpoint, Ranorex converts the code created in Ranorex Studio to something that th...

Re: Huge differrence in speed
Hi Oliver, Welcome to the forums and thank you for sharing your findings! Looking over your methods, I believe the vast majority of this difference is the way in which Ranorex locates objects. Using the Index value of a cell (as in method one) is much faster as the values are already indexed. Method...

Re: StopPopupWatcher after failure
Hi Hans, You are correct in that the PopupWatcher is maintained until stopped or until all Test Suites are finished. The only way I'm aware of to stop an individual Popupwatcher would be to remove it from the dictionary using the StopPopupWatcher method: public static void StopPopupWatcher(RepoItemI...

Re: Changing browsers causing issues
Hi Martin, I've seen this a few times in the past, and typically the workaround you posted helps out. In situations where it doesn't, I do my best to find the next layer up (or down) in the DOM and attempt to interact with that instead. Sometimes I have to use PerformClick(), while other times Selec...

Re: Runtime execution and Ranorex installation issue
Hi Mr.Papou, It's not uncommon to run into object Identification issues when Ranorex isn't installed (unless "Copy runtime to output" in Settings is checked). That being said, the second error shows that it couldn't find an object after one attempt in 50 seconds. That is not typical performance. In ...
