Test Automation - PowerBuilder Applications

Post by Yassine.R » Wed Jan 24, 2018 10:43 am

Hello everyone,

I started testing recently an application developped in PowerBuilder technology, I found a problem in tracking objects in that application GUI, does Ranorex supports testing of such applications? and if yes what do i have to install or configure so I can track my app objects?

In attachement you find my app Snapshot

Thanks in advance for your response.

Hi Yassine,

As far as I know, Powerbuilder uses the MSAA implementation to make elements trackable for other tools such as Ranorex. If the MSAA implementation is missing or not done correctly in your AUT, it makes it nearly impossible to identify objects. You can double-check this by using Microsoft's Inspect tool.

If you do not see any items using Inspect, the problem is definitely related to the MSAA implementation.

Hope that helps!
Best,
DP
