Upgraded to 7.1. Cant track objects

Post by StefanAstrom » Mon Jul 10, 2017 9:01 am

Hi,
I upgraded Ranorex from 7.0.1 to 7.1 and after that I cant track elements. Running a webapp and uses WPFPreferred.

When I try track an element with Ranorex Spy it highligts in all the wrong places. Same if I choose "highlight" element in my tests.

Anyone else that experience similar problems after upgrade?

Hi,

Did you perform a clean installation when upgrading to Ranorex 7.1?
Do you also have a snapshot made with Ranroex 7.0.1 by chance?

Best regards,
DP

I uninstalled 7.0.1 as good as I possible could do in Windows. This OS is quite tiresome because you can't really know if everything actually got removed.

Then I uninstalled 7.1, reinstalled 7.0.1, cleaned the GIT repo to get rid of the upgraded files.

Now it seems to work again. Attaching a snapshot when I tracking the same element once again.

Note: The first time the Spy was unable to find the element and the whole container was highligted. This time it worked. The correct element was highlighted.

Hi again,

Thanks for uploading a second snapshot. I've compared them and saw that the DOM object is recognized differently. In the first snapshot, the browsername is listed as "Electron" but in the second it shows "CEF-Sharp".
I assume CEF-Sharp is the right one?

Additionally, a clean installation would contain the following steps
  • Uninstall Ranorex
    Reboot machine
    Remove remaining files manually
Re-install latest Ranorex version using the exe installer
