Using parameters in repository object

How can I use externals parameters in a repository object ? I can use parameters for check values but can not use for a xpath.
How can I do that ?

Thanks but can you give me exact page instead of user guide because there is a bunch of pages there.

Here are some pages that should help you. Lesson 3 shows you how to add a variable to the XPath of your repository item which you then can link to your external source.
