Any hints on where to look to solve this problem?

Some tests get this error over and over... it's just an info message but I've no clue what to look for (I'm not even sure which object it's referring to)

20:04.655 Debug Plugins GetChildLineageFromUid failed on FlavorElement with flavor 'web'. Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Hi carsonw,

what browser do you use?
You should try to reinstrument the browser plugins. Oh, and on chrome, you should remove the Ranorex plugin and install the Ranorex plugin from the webstore.

Best Regards,
Zoltan

This is in IE specifically (IE 9 in my case)... and it only happens for a couple of different tests, and it does not happen consistently in the same spot. It also happens on quite a few different machines, so I don't think reinstrumentation will help :(

Carson, what version of Ranorex are you using?

I've had similar issues. I have not noticed it AS MUCH with 5.1.0, but it still happens. Mine is usually with IE 11 though.

I'm using 5.0.1 right now... we have a story to upgrade to 5.1 next iteration (upgrading is an ordeal for us as we have many, many test machines to upgrade and if some upgrade breaks something it's a real pain to roll it back).

Hi Carson,

Can you send or post the report file which includes the message (GetChildLineageFromUid) and the internal log file of the Ranorex executable of the run where the specific message was logged?
To enable internal logging of the Ranorex test executable you just need to copy the attached NLog.config file to the same directory where your Ranorex text executable is located in.

Thanks,
Markus

Hi Carson,

I am sorry, I forgot to upload it :?.
You also need to change the ending of the file from *.txt to *.config.

Markus
