Windows UI control recognition warning

Hi,

In one of my windows automation(it is very slow since it is run on a VM). I always get the following warning:

This control (from process 'KMDS') seems to be a Windows Forms control, but was not recognized as such, possibly due to a security limitation. UI element identification capabilities for this control may be limited.
If this control is a WinForms control, please make sure that the automating process has the rights to access the automated application. Otherwise, please ignore this limitation.
The following website provides more information on this technology limitation:
http://www.ranorex.com/support/user-gui ... html#c3250
(This message is only shown once per report.)

In this provided URl, I noticed:
Reason #1:
The automating process (Ranorex executable) and the automated application (AUT) are not started with the same security rights, i.e. not as the same Windows user.

I always run Ranorex application as an Administrator, how can I open AUT as an administrator by using
Host.Local.OpenApplication? Or I misunderstand it?

Regards,
Betty

Hello stapes,

The Ranorex API provides the method Host.Local.RunApplication() to start the application under test.

For web testing you could use the method Host.Local.OpenBrowser().

More specific information about these methods could be found in the Ranorex Documentation.

Johannes

We are experiencing the same issue,
Our requirement is to run the Test on VM but failed to run a test with Runtime agent We manage to run the test after installing Ranorex Studio On VM, but it does not identify the objects. Even When we start Ranorex ad admin, we still get the security limitation alert

(The automating process does not have the required security permissions to access the process '. UI element identification capabilities for controls in that process are limited.

This control (from process 'xxxx') seems to be a Windows Forms control but was not recognized as such, possibly due to a security limitation. UI element identification capabilities for this control may be limited.
We are Installing our AUT as an administrator with Ranorex on a daily basis, however, we still get these alerts.
Really appreciate your support

Regards
Dan

Hi Danscorpio,

In addition to launching Ranorex with administrative privileges, also ensure you are launching your AUT with administrative privileges as this can have an effect on object recognition. Installing the AUT as admin does not mean it will launch with administrative privileges. Additionally, did you try the seven WinForms troubleshooting steps linked in the previous post? One of these will likely resolve your issue.

I hope this helps!

Cheers,
Ned
