Hi, everybody!
I've also encountered this problem and recently sent an email to Chrome Tech support:

My name is Alena, I work as a QA automation engineer and am currently using an automated testing tool called Ranorex made in Austria. It has advanced multi-level Object Recognition functionality. Due to Application Under Testing specifics, I have to clear cookies often, and while my script for this operation works perfectly in 3 other major browsers (IE, Firefox, Safari), no objects are recognized in Chrome window except Minimize/Maximize/Close window buttons (even using Ranorex Graphic Device Interface feature which is the only help in testing legacy apps based on older technologies like VB6.0, Delphi or MFC).
Basically, when I open chrome://settings/clearBrowserData, my tool can't identify "Clear browsing data" button even applying all available ways of identification.
Is it possible to introduce some shortcuts (like in FF - using "Ctrl+[letter]") to choose menu items/click buttons/etc. or some other workaround to solve this problem?
I hope they'll answer soon. Though automatic reply says that 'Due to the volume of feedback, we won't be able to send you a personal reply. If you have additional questions about Google Chrome, use these resources to find answers:..."

I hope, this clarification will help Ranorex team to get the answer.

Regards,
Alena.

Hi,

Since Chrome 27.X is not yet officially released (in beta stage) there is no Ranorex "extension" available for Ranorex 4.0.2.
In Chrome it is not "allowed" to track elements of the settings window and I think they will not allow it.
I found a post where it is described how to remove a cookie, maybe this would be a workaround for you.

Regards,
Markus

Waiting for Chrome Tech support answer, I've found a workaround, and for me it works 100%. I don't have to manually click on 'Delete browsing data' anymore which seems so awkward while everything else is automated!

In Ranorex studio, in Recording window, right-click on the problematic step in your script (where Repository item can be a whole Chrome window) and choose 'Edit location'. Enable 'Image based' and 'Autoselect image find region' (it's what does the trick - 'autoselect'!). Set location, moving cursor pointer to the best, in your opinion, point on the previously unidentified object, and it should work. If it doesn't, change location a little. That's it!

Does anyone know if there is a solution to this rather than the workarounds suggested?

Thanks,

Brian

Hello Brian,

Do you look for a solution to access objects in Chrome 27.x?
This issue has been fixed since Ranorex 4.0.3.

Access to internal Chrome sites (e.g. chrome://settings) is still not possible.

Markus (T)

Hello,

Just a small update on this.
It is now possible to track the internal Chrome sites but you have to enable the Global accessibility mode first.
In order to turn this on you need to enter “chrome://accessibility/” as shown below:

Hi,
I am using Chromium 37 and Ranorex(5.2 evaluation version).
I have turned on the accessibility in Chromium.

I could not get the repository information for the elements in the Dom.
I get a message in Ranorex Spy "Unable to see inside chrome://momory-redirect Automation Tools | Ranorex Forum - Mozilla FireFox"

Is there any other setup required.

Thanks
Pushpa

Hi,

As mentioned in another post (started by you), Ranorex curently does not support Chromium. Only Chrome is supported.

As has been said before, Ranorex ONLY supports the following browsers:

Microsoft Internet Explorer
Mozilla Firefox
Google Chrome (NOT Chromium)
Apple Safari

And, depending on the browser, they may only be supported in stand-alone mode due to how Ranorex interacts with them, specifically the need to load the Ranorex plugin, which isn't loaded on most hybrid applications.
