hi

Validation using images is a powerful feature. Unfortunately it seems that the documentation is from an old Ranorex version, that differs from the current one. The video is also 5 years old.

Could you please update the docs?

Hi, I try to explain you how I use static image recognition  .

VALIDATION
1. Start recording an action and in the recording control windows, check the image validation checkbox.
2. Press Validate and click over the element you want.
3. Inside Validation window, press Next to enter the image validation settings.
4. By default, the entire image is selected to validate. If you don't want to validate all the image, just select what you want. Press OK to finish

A new step with action Validate|ContainsImage is created. If you want to get a new snapshot or change the validation area inside, press inside the Screenshot1[...] button and you can select a new area or take a new screenshot (second icon from right). Also, if you have more than one screenshot you can use the combobox to define what screenshot is used.

CLICK OVER AN ELEMENT
Follow same steps like validation, but you can define where in the image you want to click (the '+' tells you where the mouse point'n'click)

Ok, isn't a very good tutorial but I thinks it can get you in right direction.

hope it helps!

regards,
Mateo.

Hi Ziv,
Regarding the User Guide:
In general, our User Guide should be consistent with the current Ranorex version.
May I ask you, where you need some assistance?

Regarding the screencast:
I must agree that this video is not up to date anymore.
I will talk to the responsible colleague.

Regards,
Markus (S)
