Actions in Validation..

Hi,
I am evaluating Ranorex 2.0 to automate some of our applications. I am using the Element Browser to track elements and then adding Mouse and Validation actions to the Recording1.rxrec file.
One of our testcases checks whether the application icon is present in the system tray and once the application is closed the icon should not exist in system tray.
I can validate the Exists action using the Validation item but how to validate the item does Not Exists in the recorder?
Can someone throw light on it please?

Cheerz,
Deven B.

There`s no "Not Exists" action in the recorder yet. We will discuss this issue and maybe it will be implemented in a future version.

For now, you can catch the element not found exception in code instead.

Thanks Christian for the quick reply.
Yes that would help a lot to validate many conditions.

Hi Christian,

It would be much appreciated if the check for "Not Exists" is added alongwith the "Exists" check in the Ranorex Recorder functionality.
I am sure it would be useful to many of us testers where there is a need to assert some conditions (like delete, remove, update etc).
I am currently evaluating Ranorex for automating some of our .NET and web-based(AJAX) products and have already spoken to Christoph who is supporting me to evaluate it.

Hope this feature gets added quickly in the near future release.

Thanks & Regards,
Deven B.

We try to consider that feature for the Ranorex V2.1.0 release.
