License Server 5.3.x and higher does not deliver license

Hi all!
In parallel we have contacted the Ranorex Support regarding this issue, but we are currently urgently searching for a solution.
We have been trying to upgrade Ranorex Studio and Ranorex License Server from version 5.2.x to 5.3.x several weeks ago (currently we have installed version 5.4.1). While the connection to the license server (floating license installed) is possible with Ranorex Studio version 5.2.x, it is no longer possible with version 5.3.x or higher.
When connecting to it, we get this error message:
"The License Manager ... was contacted, but no suitable license was available. Please add additional licenses to your License Manager or wait until licenses become available."
In fact a free license IS available.
TCP and UDP port 7266 is open at the license server computer. If we downgrade to a Ranorex Studio version 5.2.x, we can connect to the license server. But any Ranorex Studio version 5.3.x or higher cannot connect to it and receives this error message.
We have currently installed license server 5.4.1.
Can anybody give advice on this issue?
What is different when connection with newer Ranorex Studio versions?
Are there any new specific software requirements regarding the license server machine?
