I installed Droid4X

I installed Ranorex Services (1.8.9) to emulator

I am running Ranorex Studio 7.0

I cannot find emulator
- Add new Device - Android (I tried both Network and Emulator) but with no success.

Is there something I am doing wrong & missing?

I can connect physical android mobile via USB.

I installed NoxAppPlayer and same result :(. Cannot get the connection.

"No running emulators found."

Emulator is running on same laptop (and Ranorex Services is running on emulator)

Hi SanMan,

By default, the Droid4X and NoxApp emulator are running on a different network. To switch the adapter to bridge network, you need to perform the following steps (for Droid4x)
  • Install and open Oracle VMBox
  • Open the settings for your Droid4x emulator in VMBox
  • Switch to network
  • Enabled "Adapter 4" and set it to "Brdiged Adapter"
  • Install Ranorex Service App on Droid4x
  • Open Ranorex Service App and select the corresponding network (it should show 4 different networks)
  • Open Ranorex Studio and add Endpoint
Unfortunately, I'm not exactly sure how to achieve this with NOX Player, but I assume that NOX has the same network settings.

Hope that helps!
best regards,
DP

Hi DP,

thank you for for help. This is what I did and seems that I am still doing something wrong

* Install and open Oracle VMBox => Done
* Open the settings for your Droid4x emulator in VMBox => Done
* Switch to network => Done

* Enabled "Adapter 4" and set it to "Bridged Adapter"
VM_D4x.png
Something seems to go wrong here...

And one question; is it so that Droid4X emulator should now be run on some virtual machine or is this "Bridged Adapter" setup done just that now Ranorex can connect with emulator?

Appreciate you help!!!

If there is some easier free android emulator to setup I can try to work with that.

Still fighting :?

Some stage get this far:
vm_2.png
And from network settings:
vm_3.png

Now should I start the Droid4X from Oracle Virtual manage or from file explorer?

Sometimes when started from desktop, windows restart without warning and there is no any more "Bridge network driver".

Any help would be really good now

Hi,

installed trial version of Genymotion and it was so easy to get that one working :)

There must be something wrong with Droid4X

Is there some other free android emulator which I could try to use?

Andy, Nox and Droid4x does not work :(

Hi Sanman,

Sorry for the confusion about the VMBox settings. Basically, Droid4X is running a virtual machine on your system. Installing VMBox just allows you to access/modify the settings.
After changing the network configuration, just run Droid4x as before (without VMBox).

Anyway, I was using Genymotion as well before, but then I switched to the AVD Manager (Android Virtual Devices) which is part of Android Studio.
Those emulated devices are working pretty well for me.

Hope that helps,
Regards,
DP

Hi DP,

thank you for your answer.

I installed Android Studio and did try to run some Android Emulator with it.

I managed to install Ranorex Services but do I also need to configure the network setting (like with Droid4X)?

Now I can see that Ranorex Services show only one IP (10.0.2.15)

Can I make the network configuration via Android Studio somewhere?

Thank you again so much for your help!

BR,

SanMan

Managed to get connection.

Quite fight (not really sure what was it that fixed the connection problem...maybe just needed to wait little bit longer)

Now app installing and can get further.

Thanks for all help!

EDIT:
First barrier:

Failed to instrument Qt process. Please make sure you have enough privileges to access the process and a supported version of Qt.
Process: 'qemu-system-i386' (pid 2204)

I started the emulator with command promt (admin)

What could I do to get rid of this?

Hello SanMan,

Thank you for using the Ranorex Forum.

The technology limitation warning you get indicates you are trying to track elements within your emulator from your Windows Desktop, which unfortunately is not possible.
Though, you can start automating your application with Ranorex Studio now. To get started please have a look at the following section of our User Guide:
https://www.ranorex.com/support/user-gu ... sting.html

If you face any further questions, please use this forum or send an Email to [email protected].

Best,
Hermann
