Automating against a Windows 8.1 Tablet

Hi,

A project I am working on involves the development of a tablet application for Windows which will be deployed across many different tablet devices.

I have successfully automated the application on my PC however I would like the automation code to run against the application whilst it is installed on the device (I'm assuming similar to how the mobile app testing works) but I cannot work out how this will be done as the target technologies for mobile are only Android, IOS (iPhone and iPad).

Does Ranorex support testing directly on Windows tablets and if so how is this done?

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Matt

Hi Matt,

If the full version of Windows OS is installed you should be able to run the test on the tablet.
Unfortunately, it is not possible at the moment to run tests on Windows mobile operating systems.

Bernhard,

Is Windows 8/8.1 RT considered a mobile OS for this purpose (and therefore not supported)? I would guess that is the case since only Windows Store apps can be loaded on RT and Ranorex isn't in the store.

Hello krstcs,

You are absolutely correct, that's what I meant.
